Float collars are standard equipment for installing and cementing casing strings. They perform the critical function of controlling fluid flow into and out of the casing through one-way check valves.
Typically installed one or two joints above the float shoe, the float collar enables contaminated cement slurry to be captured in the shoe track instead of being pumped into the annulus, thereby enhancing the quality of the cement in the annulus around the shoe.
